Warehouse distribution center in mixed-use development

This thread may be more appropriate in another forum, but as the situation is occuring in a small town I thought I would give it a shot.
We are currently having a heated debate in the community regarding a requested zoning change in a mixed use development. The developers want to change the zoning from retail/commercial to light industrial in order to allow a food distribution company to relocate from the next town. The development is supposed to have over 3,000 residences with retail/commercial and research facilities. The light industrial zoning change would occur across the street from the proposed residential area....
